Overview
Tula Trans Electricals has manufactured and repaired 11–66 kV transformers in Surat since 1988, ISO 9001:2015 certified and BIS licensed. Their web presence was a static site built in 2020 that nobody at the company could change — every price revision, new product or photograph meant finding a developer. We replaced it with a 14-page bilingual platform they run entirely themselves.
The challenge
Transformer buyers — EPC contractors, state utilities, industrial plants — shortlist suppliers on specifications long before they call anyone. Tula Trans had 38 years of manufacturing behind them and a 2020 brochure site that could not show it: no product specifications a buyer could compare, no way to publish a new rating without hiring a developer, and nothing in Gujarati for the local contractor market that makes up a large share of their enquiries. Every content change had become a project.
What we did
We built a 14-page platform on Next.js and Payload CMS covering products, services, industries, projects, gallery, infrastructure, a knowledge hub, FAQ, about and contact. The hero runs an interactive 3D transformer above a seven-slide product rail. Behind it sits a full admin panel where the client edits products, services, industries, media, testimonials and site settings with no developer involved. Everything is bilingual English/ગુજરાતી, and we migrated the domain off the old host with zero email downtime.
Key decisions — and why
A CMS the client actually operates
Payload CMS 3 with a full admin panel, not a developer-only headless setup. Products, services, industries, media, testimonials and site settings are all editable by the client — which is the difference between a site that stays current and one that goes stale in six months.
Bilingual with a fallback, not a half-translated page
English and ગુજરાતી throughout, with automatic fallback to English when a field has not been translated yet. A page that is partly translated renders complete rather than blank — so the client can translate progressively without ever shipping an empty section.
An interactive 3D transformer, not a stock photo
The hero renders a real transformer in Three.js the visitor can rotate, over a seven-slide product rail. For a manufacturer selling on build quality, showing the object beats describing it — and no competitor in the segment was doing it.
Seven themes with live preview
The client can switch between seven site themes and see the result before saving. It sounds cosmetic; in practice it removed the single most common reason clients come back to a developer six weeks after launch.
